OK, here is one for y'all down in the Seattle and north area.

I was scanning the bands when I came across an interesting digital signal. It was a hard decode for me, all I got was garbled voice. BUT... The Radio ID was N903DP, RAN 8.

Hmm, sounds like an aircraft N-Number, so I took a look at ADS-B, and lo and behold, a Kenmore Air 208 was about 15 miles from me.
So I figure that I was getting the input side of a conversation, which I think might be the Tiger Mtn Site 8 of this NXDN system: Wiztronics Inc Trunking System, Various, Washington

The talkgroup was 185, which isn't listed in the DB, but I suspect is Kenmore Air Dispatch.

Wondering if some folks down there could have a listen to that site, maybe put 452.73125 into that site also and see what you can come up with.

First -- let's start at the beginning -- you need to learn the difference between DMR and NXDN. RAN codes are NXDN.

This has NOTHING to do with DMR.

Secondly, the R93 changeover started months ago but without any traffic. It sounds like you probably heard valid voice traffic on an associated voice channel. The one issue with digital systems is that they're nearly impossible to figure out -- unless there's voice traffic.

R93 has two sites that I found back around Christmas time. It looks like Wiztronics is upgrading from a LOCAL trunk to a REGIONAL trunk. Silke has R80 and Wiztronic's upgraded system will be R93.

I'm presuming the old trunk will be migrated at some point but who knows.

Third, the two active control channels for both sites:

R93 - Site 3: 463.540625, CH: 876
R93 - Site 8: 452.734375, CH: 412

Site 8 is probably Tiger Mountain and Site 3 could be Lookout Mountain, but I'm not 100% certain.

I'll check the frequency you found -- it's likely a voice channel -- but I'll confirm here in the next day or two.

Yep, you’re right, NXDN. I got ‘em mixed up.

The frequency I found may have been the input as I heard absolutely 0 there the rest of the day. As it is, I’m not in a good position to get decent reception of those areas but I will try mobile in the next few days.

Hope this helps, and look forward to seeing this system fleshed out in the database soon.

There is an R93 cc at 451.35 (from memory, not at the shack now. I will have to confirm tomorrow).

I'm not sure why it doesn't have a mic plugged in.

In aircraft the radios are interfaced to the audio system, so they can use the headset and boom mic. In aircraft you would never hear the radio and need to route the audio out to the headphones that are used by the flight crew.

and some neighbor entries

2024/04/04 10:16:13 R93-3 neighbor: Site R93-10; CC=764

I think site 7 is in the Surrey BC area, or possibly Lynden WA area, just in terms of signal strength.

Site 10 (Toad Mtn) or Site 23 (Mt Vernon)
My monitoring of this system reveals 451.9875 S 23 Ran 23 as control ch
451.75 / 461.125/ 463.25 All I have logged with S10 Ran 10 all north of the border
I have been trying to make sense of this for ages , on the Fleetnet side (here in Vancouver) to the US side as the signals are largely available here north of the border
I see by following the licenses they rarely correspond with what DSD is reporting , so at end of day I did not pursue much
at the moment I am getting 451.75 (WPUM931 Squalicum Mtn? one frx only ?) IG not YG
mix of US + Can users
