I'm getting what appears to be a dead carrier often on the hotline freq. 460.162. (also on the simulcast at 154.100 but weaker) It's a very strong signal but no audio. (I get the repeater id strong as well) Is this some kind of encryption? I have had similar experiences with the 858.262 CSPERN freq. I'm in Trumbull.
thanks,
Jeff

You mean 460.1625 correct? The only other assignments that are close to you in CT are Beekman Fire in Dutchess County and Mahwah fire in NJ that utilize the same frequency.

yes, my scanner is an older model Uniden BC 855XLT it only has a 6 digit freq input capacity. It defaults to 460.162 That seems to work with other 7 digit freqs I've programmed into it. At least I'm hearing what I should be hearing.
thanks

460.1625 is the New FAPERN channel. Fairfield county chiefs channel is a 5 or 6 site UHF/VHF simulcast system for Fairfield County. In Trumbull you would hear the UHF off the Shelton tower and the VHF off troop G.
Open mics are VERY common on these channels as well as CSPERN because some of the radio companies don’t put time out timers on the channels (Stupid idea not to put it)
CSPERN more often because of the 700 or so Tait radios the state paid for departments to use, none of them look to have the time out timer programmed at all. Poor programming!
