Could someone in the Charlottesville area run DMRDecode on 461.8250 (the frequency used for JAUNT)? I'm in Fredericksburg, and can hear the TRBO sound on the frequency, but the signal isn't strong enough for DMRDecode to get info.

The tower is on Carters Mountain, so the signal should reach a broad swath of the region. Please give it a try if you're in the area and know how to use DMRDecode.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave: don't know DMR decode but that freq is so strong on my ground mounted discone I can hear it just fine with the antenna switch on the other radio, i.e. with a shorted input. There seems to be a number of possible TRBO stations here, the ham repeater on Martha Jefferson on 145.45 was just totally trashed by what sounds like TRBO from Carter's.

Not sure what this is but lots of traffic. I couldn't get the settings right to hear most of it though. Im not sure if this is what you're looking for but here's the file from DMRDecoder. First time I've played with it so it may be worthless.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for. It appears that there was no voice traffic, but plenty of data traffic. I assume the data could be GPS positions of the vehicles.

Dave: could it be the bus system, now known as "CAT"? I think they are working on installing some of those smart signs where it tells you how long until the next bus arrives.

I could also see where JAUNT would want to know where their vehicles are. Sorry I can't be of more help.

For some reason I can't get everything set right to hear much of this. I'm only able to catch the first part of the transmission and most of them are something like "base calling so&so" or "so&so calling base". Here's another dmrdecode catch with voice transmissions this time around.

Right you are Dave. I knew CAT was on the trs but I guess I locked it out of my brain as well as my scanner. I've got to devote some time to looking for those TRBO-type signals on VHF too.

BTW, I used to enjoy the UVA transit drivers, they were always so polite and friendly to each other.

JAUNT MotoTRBO

Hello everyone. My friend Dave Webber works for JAUNT and several months ago they did turn all their Motorola Radios over to MotoTRBO with a few pushes of a the button. It is on that frequency 461 that you mentioned. They also I believe use GPS on their vans to be able to tell where they are exactly in their service area. They also use computers in the vans to transmit data about the next pickup that they have to do and any other information. That may explain some of the other data you may have seen come up on the DMR decode. Let me know if I can help any further.
