Sounds like they are doing a test of the countywide dispatch frequency, along with mutual aid 3 east. Is that out of the ordinary?

Out of the ordinary? No. However this one seemed to be on a larger scale. reminded me of when there was an earthquake a few months ago and they went through all the los angeles county fire stations asking for location and earthquake intensity.

That would be the weekly (at least I think it's still weekly) test of the LARTCS system www.LARTCS.org. If you search the site for LARTCS, you should be able to find lots of info.

Its no longer weekly, they test when they feel like it. Keep your ears open at the end of the net and they will announce when the next test is. Ive heard them do it at 1pm and theres times ive heard them do it at 3am, so you really have to pay attention.
