I have been using my frequency scanner
for more than 20 years.
I was wondering if anyone can help me .
This frequency # 476.3625
(Riverdale, Dolton, South Holland Illinois)
and others; is shown on this website.
But, it is a 100% dead frequency number.
Can you tell me the new replacement frequency that
replaces 476.3625 ?

Thanks for the response.
Is there anyway that I can get that frequency to come in
even thou it is encrypted?
Can I buy a different scanner or ?

Short answer...No, you can't just enter a frequency and hear these agencies on the Cook County system.

Long answer...

The Cook County radio system is a digital trunked radio system that incorporates several frequencies. Each agency is assigned a talkgroup. If the system wasn't encrypted a digital scanner would be required to listen to the system. In this case...if you did buy a digital scanner you wouldn't know which talkgroup the agency of interest is using because it is encrypted unless someone knowledgeable told you what it is. Even then the scanner would either skip past it or you would hear beeps and burps depending on the scanner.

Last I heard any agency that wants to use the Cook County radio system must have encryption on their radios.

No, and legally, no.

The area my parents are in went encrypted in 2013, and my current area did earlier this year. I feel your pain.
