logs:
(edit: 12:50 pm eastern, added more logs)
heard a truck wash in FL advertising on CB channel 19. talk about breaking through the noise.

29.5800 C88.5
29.6000 CSQ "KC0WZF"
29.6800 C118.8
33.5600 C118.8
35.0600 C162.2 "we're gonna need some more lifejackets"
37.1600 C156.7
37.1800 C110.9
39.5600 C91.5
42.0600 C203.5
42.0800 C94.8
42.1400 C186.2
42.3800 C173.8
42.4000 C173.8
42.4200 CSQ? very weak
42.4600 D131
42.5800 C186.2
42.8600 C203.5
42.9400 C203.5
44.2000 data, weird...never heard it before.
44.7000 C77.0
43.5000 data
45.7800 C100.0
46.1800

12:50pm eastern:

42.1400 C186.2
42.3200 C186.2
42.4000 C173.8
42.4600 D131
42.5000 CSQ
42.6400 C186.2
42.8200 C186.2
42.8600 C203.5
42.9400 C203.5

seemed like this time the opening was only the 40-44 MHz band. Scatter on 44.20 wasn't nearly as strong as it was earlier this morning and I didn't get the usual Spanish-speakers in the 30-32 MHz range and the PA and NY fire departments on 33 MHz. The second go around 10 meters was dead, even the CW and sideband sections turning up nothing.

42.4000 C173.8 was by far the strongest/most often heard signal. I could tune +/- 5 kHz and still hear them booming in. I always thought it was NC highway patrol but I just looked in the database.

Edit again, looks like MO highway patrol uses 42.400 PL 173.8. I answered my own question.

Meteor scatter -- quite active and very strong at times. Search this forum for 44.2 for more loggings.

Didn't sound like a southern accent but you never know. I know Shenandoah river tours here in VA use lowband (or used to) and I wanna say I've seen that freq somewhere before, although I might be confusing it with 33.400. Who knows. That signal coming from FL would be in line with all the CB traffic that I'm hearing coming from that part of the country, though.
