N_Jay said:50 cents off a gallon if you need 20 Gal (very empty, fairly large tank) is $10.
$10 is about 3.33 gallon.
15 ,miles each way is a 30 mile trip. So as long as you get better than 9 miles to the gallon, AND you need at lest 20 Gallons, I guess you are over break-even!
Of course this is assuming you time is worth nothing, (which may be a fair bet)
MacombMonitor said:When policeMonitor mentioned 15, and 16 mile, those are actually the names of streets in our area, not distance. 15 Mile Road, and 16 Mile Road. He lives in the area, so it's not far for him at all. The only problem will be how much gas will he burn up while waiting in line!
Here's an explanation of the entire situation that brought this on:

N_Jay said:I don't get it. It sounds like the settled a Multi-100,000 dollar case for $5000.
My guess is it was "go away" money, and the case was weak.
I say that because "gouging is very hard to do, and even harder to prove.
So now we will have stupid people line up and waste gas and time for very little true value.
I love when the government puts their foot into economics. They usually slip on the **** because they don't know were to step!
MacombMonitor said:I agree, it was a fruitless lawsuit. But they definitely had proof, as these guys rigged the meter on the pump to show more gallons than what was actually being delivered to the customers gas tank.
The discount gas is going to happen a few times. It was part of a criminal case for modifing the gears in the pumps to show more gas pumped than actually was. The origional station was closed.N_Jay said:I don't get it. It sounds like the settled a Multi-100,000 dollar case for $5000.

Here's the settlement and the station is still closed.N_Jay said:Yep, they paid there little "settlement" and did not have to close the station (they did for other reasons).
Now just how many of these $5000 stunts are the politicians putting on?
I;m guessing it is less than 20! (to get back the $100,000)
And I bet the two brothers got no jail time due to the "settlement".
The law says 5 years, they should get 5 years AND restitution to the order of $100,000!
This is political BS to make the local Gov look good!
It only works because people are stupid enough to fall for it!
One problem the station was on SOUTH BOUND Gratiot not north bound. If they were lined up from 15 mile to Mt. Clemens they would be north bound - the station was 1/4 mile south of 16 mile. I saw them lined up from Harrington to 16 mile and nourth bound was clear. Some people here sound like the newspapers.policeMonitor said:well i tell you guys i did a drive by at 10 o clock they where lined up from 15 all the way down into mount clemens there where even people that where in line pushing there cars because they ran out of gas lol as soon as i seen the line i went to another gas station its not bad for my because i have a economy car that gets 25 to 20 mpg but wow people where fighting and everything
