I have never been able to update my SDS100 firmware or database. Sentinel gives me a (500) syntax error. Have tried it on 2 different computers with the same results. Anyone else have this problem?

And are you using the current model of Sentinel for your scanner? That is version 2.02, revision 01.

If you cannot even update the database in Sentinel, using the correct program, then likely your firewall or ISP is blocking your access to the ftp site that Sentinel tries to connect to.

That's the version of Sentinel I am using. I tried it with the firewall and antivirus turned off with the same results. The full message I am getting is "The remote server returned an error: (500) syntax error, command unrecognized".

That's a network error, either with your internet connection settings, or your ISP.

Sprint LTE is my isp, no other issues with connection or apps. I don't suppose there is any way to just download the database without Sentinel and copy it to the sd card?

Com port? I can download and upload to the radio just fine. I'm going to go with BuTel for the programing software, Looks like there haven't been any firmware updates in a year.

Did you check the firewall settings on your router?...

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling sentinel?...

It looks like it is hitting the server or you would not get the 500 error...
Something just isin't right...

Are you using Sentinel for the BCDx36HP & SDSx00 indicated by the Green Shield Icon?
If your's shows the Orange Shield icon then you are using the Home Patrol flavor.

Tried all that, no joy. Ran as administrator, no joy.

Running the green shield version. I give up.

I'm out of ideas... Have to see if someone else can think of something...

ISP maybe, network related, or there’s a firewall setting within the router or modem not set correctly. Especially since it’s occurring on two different computers.

I just looked in my router under IPv4 firewall settings...
See if you have anything under that related to service types... (Mine does...)
And settings are there to enable or disable the FTP protocal...
