Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a new 5200 that shows UNPROGRAM.

I cannot get my PC ( Win 10) to recognize the kpg36 or 46 cables in USB or UART setting. Installed and uninstalled USB and VCP drivers many times. All the usual tricks that have worked with other devices in the past. Nothing happening with either cable.

D1 installed and activated ok.

Any way to enable the Bluetooth serial connection on a factory new radio so I can read and write radio via BT?

Thanks

Simple answer, no. Did you order the bt serial port option?

What drivers are you loading?

I have been using the kpg36/46xm with win 10 in uart mode with no issues.
Did you use the disk provided with the cable?

If you do not have the driver disk, let me know, i will send you the link to fetch it.

Keep in mind one of the settings (I believe it's the USB setting and not UART) you won't see anything in device manager at all when only the cable is plugged in. It's only when the radio is hooked up and turned on that something might appear. Try running D1N, and then plugging the cable in (I've also found that the particular USB port on my computer makes a difference, too. Try to use the same port all the time for that cable.) Once D1N is up and running, and the cable is plugged in, hook up the radio and turn it on. It is only then that a COM port appears in device manager.

The other setting (UART) of that cable, when plugged in, you should see appear in device manager as a serial port when plugged in and running correctly regardless of whether a radio is hooked up or not. (Mine comes up as COM4).

Thanks for the quick replies.

I was getting a bit frustrated with Windows :)

No I did not purchase the serial BT option, but given all the issues I have with USB drivers in general, not just this time, I am thinking it might be a good way to go.

I finally got the cable to work on a different computer in UART mode. Nothing in USB.

I can read the radio information, but now have a new challenge. I received the attached error message when trying to read the radio data and save the initial radio read.

I am running KPG-D1 2.21

Experience with other manufacturers CPS but new to Kenwood. So first time with the FPU software and Kenwood ecosystem.

Sounds like your software version is older than the firmware version in the radio. You will have to update your software to the newest version.
