The past few mornings, I have been hearing a radio station playing what sounds like tropical music. With an announcement in spanish? every 53 minutes from the top of the hour.

It is not very strong, but hangs on for some time. I don't have an audio clip since I hear this leaving work
around 5am central time on my car radio.

Isn't 530 assigned for Traveler Info Broadcasts? Or can anybody tell me what this may be?

I don't think it's 'assigned' - but yes, TIS stations sometimes use this freq - but I more suspect a MW broadcaster - seems to me I remember Turks Radio was on 530 khz, and Spain on 531. I'm not much of a MW hound, so someone come in and correct this. Either way a decent catch on a car radio...73 Mike

Thanks for the answer, guys. I looked at the program schedule and it matches, or at least I could assume, what I am hearing. I got 30 miles between work and home, and gives me ample time to seek out some MW catches, especially at daybreak.

There is a beacon in the South KC area on that frequency _ _ _ . _ _ _ but I have recently started hearing music over it too whereas I never had before.

I don't know how many stations are assigned to 530, but that Toronto one mentioned above is a common catch. I get it pretty good here in Richmond VA.
