Download sends the favorites list to the scanner. Monitor enables it to scan.
Yes it will not let me get that for it looks like it work but when i take the cable off and the scanner come back nothing to scan

Is the scanner in USB Mass Storage when you write to it?
yes
Are you "unmounting" the scanner using the Windows "Eject" feature? You have to do that before you unplug the scanner.

the only way i can get channels in my scanner is use zip code

You need at least one favorites list programmed with at least one system or conventional object to be able to scan something other than the full database (zip code scan). Once said favorites list is added it then needs to be enabled to monitor: MENU > SET SCAN SELECTION > SELECT LISTS TO MONITOR > [select favorites list] : On
If the above measure fails to resolve issue, go through the items from the wiki provided in post #4. Start at subsection entitled "For the HPx, x36HP and SDS Series"
