upon doing some more scanning, I got FM on 27.700 with British accents, this is close to 27.70125 UK CB channel 11...vhfdx.net is showing a lot of 6m contacts over the Atlantic so this would make sense.

I was just listening to the 29.62 (NY) repeater on my PSR-500 with factory duckie in my car, while eating lunch. A little QSB but full quieting at one point.

Does anyone know which repeater it is exactly? I've heard it come booming down here before when the band was open.

Wow, no kidding, it says 1300 watts on 10 meters. That would explain how they're booming down here so often. Nothing like good old fashioned power

6 meters is running the same output power on 53.730 and is heard very well even when the band is not open.
I am located in Southern New Jersey and I hear it all the time.

I'll put that freq in my radio next time the skip comes rolling in. The 33MHz fire band is a pretty good indicator of conditions to the north of me.
