Side by side the 800 trounces the 668... its struggles to stay locked on a CC when the 800 locks on just fine...

Are the internals different?

Both have the official Whistler upgrade... most current CPU and DSP

Did you try swapping antennas between the 2 scanners? Are both programmed with the same configuration file using the WS1080 EZ Scan software?

Are both on the official legacy upgrade? You might have one that has issues...they should function 99.99% the same. Try reinstalling the dsp and cpu firmware on the 668 and make sure you have the ezscan settings on both.

Its so strange.. the Psr800 is rock solid all night last night... but the 668 just cant keep up, it misses 90% of what the 800 hears. Its so strange.

Regular P25 performancr doesnt seem to be effected, like single conventional is fine. Regular analog channels are fine. Just the CLMRN P2, its performance is awful.

Which is a bummer, the radio is mint.

Ill try reloading the CPU and DSP, which I believe I did already but can try again.

Both radios have the rem800 antenna on.

Give me a PM. I would try the CPU firmware updater that I linked to. It is specifically for the legacy scanners. Dumb question: What is the squelch setting?

Nah it came upgraded :(
But is it the OFFICIAL LEGACY upgrade or the hack? if the hack it will be on DSP 3.1..DO NOT try and update it to 3.2 or you will lose DMR and have to send it out to be repaired as it ruins the logic board on hacked firmware units.

If the above is true....Send it to whistler for the legacy upgrade.

Will that affect P25 decoding also? The upgraded Pro-668 has trouble receiving a P25 trunked system that the upgraded PSR-800 receives perfectly.

It recieves p25 just fine, it just cannot track CTs P2 system, when it gets a call it looses it whereas the psr800 doesnt. The issue is not present in regular P25 conventional.. Which is why I am stumped..

If it misses transmissions and the audio is garbled, that is a symptom of simulcast distortion. That will also result in the scanner losing the control channel. Both the PSR-800 and Pro-668 were made by GRE and should work in a similar manner. That could be caused by the frequency drifting on the Pro-668. The TRX-1 and TRX-2 scanners have a similar problem with frequency instability.
