Hi Jim, Yup. Got that fine tune process covered. But shouldn’t an am commercial broadcast station 50 miles away absolutely peak the needle ?

Are ya getting stuff on shortwave, especially in your evening? Did you try those frequencies I posted in post #44? You said you've been "experimenting" but you haven't said a thing about what you've received on that wire so far. As for the MW station 50 miles away, here in San Francisco for example, KSRO in Santa Rosa at 49 miles and 5000 watts only bumps my meter to about s9 and this is on my 100' wire. So it depends upon how much power your MW station's running etc.
The only MW stations that peg the meter here are the 50,000 watters within 10 miles of me.

On the DX-300 the attenuator switch should be set to the middle position.

Also, is your RF Gain turned up to at least 3/4 position?
