Hi all,

'Twas programming the Public Safety Channels into my trusty BCT15 and noticed that UASD (and, presumably, the BCT15) drops the fifth decimal place. So, for example, 764.14375 (Tac 51) is stored as merely 764.1437.

Does this mean that my BCT15 cannot scan those frequencies properly? Or, am I missing something?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

No, it just means that the last 5 is not displayed. However the BCT15 is analog only, so if the tac channel uses P25 you won't hear the digital voice decoded.

Thanks, guys.

I took a text editor to the respective UASD system file, and I'm sorry to say that the fifth decimal place is gone. In other words, the UASD software drops the fifth decimal place altogether. Needless to say, it can't transfer to the BCT15 what it doesn't have. If the BCT15 supports five decimal places, then this software has a wee design flaw.

ps. It's okay that the BCT15 doesn't decode digital. I'm only interested in snooping for the presence of signals right now. At least, that's what I tell myself until the wife is ready for my next scanner purchase. ;)

.00005 MHz (50 Hz) off will still be well within the scanner's passband...it won't even notice that it is off frequency to any great degree. Just tune it to the nearest step.
