Do any of the latest batch of scanners cover the new Public Safety 700mhz allocation bands?

I'm here a lot
Trunktrackers ? ... no . because they omit the UHF TV range.
But non-trunking Alinco and ICOM radios will receive those freq's.

I'm glad I didn't spend the big bucks for a Pro 96. I will wait until a 700MHz trunk tracking scanner comes to market.

and the flip side to that is you miss the action in the meantime (if you are still waiting for the perfect digital scanner).

Actually I'm not "missing the action" where I work & live. Denver is an analog EDACS system. There is a lot of digital in the state, but IT WILL BE GOING TO 700 MHz. For now, my $130.00 Pro 95 is more practical than a $500.00 Pro 96.

The BCD396T will, but it won't be available until late summer.

Some other ones 'cover' the band, such as the PRO-(20)96 (with the frequency expansion), but won't trunk it. The 396 will do both.

Thanks Joe / Sounds like it will be what I'm waiting for. I'm sure it wont be the "PERFECT" scanner, but that's expected.

You can pick up 700mhz with the pro-95 using starrfosts win95 application, with the pc interface you can open the expanded search range

Not true... Yes, you can tell the microprocessor to tune there, but the RF circuitry in the 95 is completely deaf from 630 MHz to 805 MHz.

And I believe 700 is going to be strictly for digital and possibly trunking licenses (correct me if I am wrong about that), the 95 will be worthless in 700 mHz as it doesn't do digital nor does it trunk in 700 mHz (and neither does ANY scanner at this time).

But you can't trunk it.

Also, users will be SNFM on 700 MHz, but MAY be analog or digital. I originally heard that the 700 MHz band would be all digital, too, but that may not be the case. Still most will be digital.

But even so, who wants to scan a trunk system in conventional mode?

It is a shame it has become a crime to monitor public safety.

700 MHz coverage has nothing to do with it being illegal to monitor public safety.

The scanner manufacturers will catch up sooner or later with trunking models that get this band. It's a similar situation as back in the mod 1980's when the jump to 800 MHz was occurring. There were only a couple scanners that could tune there (I still own one -- The Regency/AOR MX-7000), and you had to pay $$$$ to get one.

My MX-7000 was $499.95. 20 whopping channels of storage at a blazing 6/ch per second.
