700MHz Military

Quick question for anyone here.

All I seem to be able to dig up for 700MHz is Public Safety, no military stuff at all!

Can anyone tell me who uses it now and what the frequencies are, and is it FM or AM??

I have never really scaned military but now I am trying, so any HELP that anyone can give would be great

I have done a complete search on my PRO96 in the 700MHz range and I have heard nothing

The 700MHz band currently is UHF Television (channels 52 - 59 if memory serves) and has nothing to do with Military. Use of the "new" 700MHz band by Public Safety is limited by federally mandated state plans and the ability to prove that no stations (including low-power, like university or public access) are using those UHF channels (first) anywhere in the subject state, and then anywhere in any bordering state within propagation range. Although everyone is buzzing about this new "band" I am not sure any state actually is legally using it except for testing as of yet.

For military comms, most usage for aircraft is in the UHF band between 230 MHz, and 400 MHZ in AM mode, military LM uses many bandwidths, VHF Lo, VHF Hi, and UHF in the 400 thru 420 MHz areas. As Lou stated, the 700 MHz band is a FUTURE Public Safety band, and is planned to be digital. As for the rumors that certian states/areas will be using it by next year, I wouldn't believe the hype, as the TV stations will not be off that band by 2005. The logistics of it is a massive headache, its is comparable to converting the worldwide aircraft to FM. The basic idea that by 2010 to 2012 is sensible as that gives them time to convert all thier equipment etc,....
