Ok, so, I was browsing bands and such on my scanner again, and came across some sorta control channel in the pub. safety band on 794.2875. Any idea what that one is? As far as I was aware, nothing near Cabarrus county uses a 700MHz trunked system..

769-775 is the range for the 700 MHz base station frequencies. 799-805 is the range for the 700 MHz mobile/portable frequencies. If you hear anything outside those ranges, you're almost certainly hearing an image or some kind of interference. This is especially true if you're hearing any type of control channel above 775 MHz.

I suspect that you are listening to 794.2875 with a GRE or GRE-manufactured Radio Shack scanner. If that's the case, you're getting an image from the 800 MHz band. GRE scanners are notorious for receiving 800 MHz images in the upper 700 MHz band. In fact, the issue is so pervasive that they had to remove a large chunk of the upper 700 MHz band in order to maintain FCC compliance.
