Well, I'm not sure what to make of this one, but I'm receiving a fairly strong signal on 764.63125 in P25 with a NAC of 293. It's a continuous broadcast of different phrases and quotes. It's repeating over and over again.
Is this some kind of testing for a new system?
I get this signal very strong by Pearson Airport as well all the way to here in Bolton.

Anybody have any ideas what this is?

If you're using a PSR-500 or 600 or a Pro-106 or 197, it's quite possibly an image from an 800 MHz transmission. Not that that tells you what it is, of course.

Could it be related to this, maybe? That also uses a 293 NAC.

Yes I'm using a PSR500 and I am aware of 800MHz images that show up around 795MHz, but in this case I could not find a duplicate transmission anywhere on the 800 MHz band that matches what I'm hearing.

Is the Olympic torch near your 'hood? Or perhaps people related to VANOC, since I don't think the relay is running yet?

Besides the VANOC 2010 P25 system erected in BC, they have two Canada Wide pairs in TAFL, IIRC, for torch relay ops.

I don't recall anyone else licensed for 700 in Canada besides VANOC at the moment. Alberta's provincial system is the only other thing I know of even in development.

For what it's worth, 293 is the default NAC, at least in all the Motorola stuff I've ever used.

Given where you are hearing it,it could possibly be testing by Peel Region Public Safety on A102 (check the IC chart)
Spectrum Management and Telecommunications - SRSP-511 - Technical Requirements for Land Mobile Radio Services Operating in the Bands 764-770 MHz and 794-800 MHz

That's very interesting. I had no idea Peel was going to a new system.....I've been out of the loop for a while!

Anyways, I've uploaded a short video clip of this on youtube for those who can't hear this or for those who think I'm losing my mind:)

Using a pro2006, and I can't rule out an image frequency yet. I haven't heard them for awhile but when I do I will look for an image freq.

Ah ok thanks.... I'll keep an ear to those bands regardless now that I know someone may be lurking out there! I also did a quick TAFL search and I don't see anything licensed between 765.0000 and 800.0000 in the London area.

796.61625mhz is another frequency I have heard in the London/Middlesex area. Conversations are brief, and I can't quite figure out what it's used for. A quick search at TAFL doesn't help either. Channel is analog.
