I came across an active P25 frequency tonight in El Dorado Hills/Cameron Park. It's broadcasting what sounds like an old sitcom or something. 770.91875 $C06.

It will break programming to say that it is a radio test by the State of California, and then give a call sign, which I haven't been able to clearly hear yet. I believe it's the 700 MHz Statewide License for the State of California.

I believe this may be a transmitter on Pine Hill, and may be a test for the new State of California P25 700 MHz trunked radio system they are planning to install in the Central Valley (up to Sacramento, not sure how far south it's going.)

I'm recording the audio and will post later.

Just left the casino and was able to listen to this on the way back down the hill. We can eliminate the trunked radio system.

This was broadcasted: "This is KNCN766 (unintelligible) Telecomm division. This broadcast is being used to test signal strength and speech intelligibility for the purpose of improvements to the Caltrans 800 megahertz radio system. Please contact your local radio technician if you're experiencing interference due to this broadcast. If you have your radio set to scan, please disable the scan function for the duration of this test, which is usually several hours."

It's become a little more interesting. I didn't post it, but the same night I discovered 770.91875 $C06 (FREQ 1), I also discovered 769.40625 $293 (FREQ 2). FREQ 2 has been broadcasting a continuous 1000Hz test tone all week.

TONIGHT, 11/24, they've switched things up. NOW, FREQ 1 has changed their NAC to $293 and is broadcasting a continuous 1000Hz test tone, and FREQ 2 has changed their NAC to $C01 and is broadcasting the sitcoms the FREQ 1 was broadcasting last week.

Last Week:
769.40625 $293 - 1000Hz Test Tone
770.91875 $C06 - Caltrans Radio Tests (Sitcoms)

This Week (as of 11/24):
769.40625 $C01 - Caltrans Radio Tests (Sitcoms)
770.91875 $293 - 1000Hz Test Tone

I'm about 150 miles SSE from mcjones2013 and I've got nothing. It is 21:54 right now. I'm searching from 769 - 771 MHz. I will leave a scanner on and rolling through there to see if I hear something over the next couple of days.

Nothing heard here in central California. Just some intermod from nearby PD/FD traffic.
