I'm sort of baffled on this one. I know somebody who has a 780xlt. To the ear it seemed like the volume was really low on VHF AM (Air) frequencies only. Testing against a second 780 proved this is true. The sensitivity is still there... It hears the same as the second one. It just has lower volume. As far as can be found, it doesn't seem to be happening in any other band or mode combo. I could see just one band, or just one mode... but kind of weird for it to happen in just one band/mode combination. Anybody have any ideas? All the options like ATT and all that have been checked. I don't believe there is any way to accidentally control it to do this.

Thanks

My 780 has always had the same characteristic on am air as well, which is why I use a amplified speaker to compensate for it.

Unfortunately this was before they started adding the independent audio level feature. This is a big difference though... Not just the little difference you sometimes get with radios. It is about 1/4 turn or more difference from any other band/mode combo, and also at least 1/4 turn difference when compared to the second unit.

I have two 780's and they both exhibit this symptom. I ususally just listen to air and mil-air on AM with one of them so its not a big issue for me. Trying to scan FM chanels and AM air band at the sme time yeah you'll get aggrivated real quick. Glad I have a lot scanners.
