Can the 780XLT be upgraded to receive digital? Or do I need a new scanner?

The 780 is still a keeper. I have an extra one just for 10 bands of searching.

Even though I have two digital scanners, I also use two 780s. They are good units for analog systems.

If you decide to buy another mobile unit, be aware that Uniden is coming out with a new base/mobile digital scanner called the BCD996T. It has many more features than the BC796D.
