785D 1000 channels here, 1100 channels there?

Why is it that this radio is obviously a 1000 channel scanner, yet some websites claim it to be 1100 channels or show it as 1100 channels?
Check out the link and click to enlarge. The channels say 1100.
Any clue why this is?

can anyone say false advertising?

when uniden first put out the slick of the bc785, it showed a picture of the bc780xlt and it showed 500 channels.

of course the 246 was supposed to have more memory as well, but has less due to the alpha tag taking some of it.
