This is my second day with my PSR-500. On SRCH I got a hit on 796.809375. I think it is a PWCPD Tac channel, but it is not listed in the PWC frequencies and returns nothing on the VA frequency search. On my scanner it says 796.809375 and P25:213. Can anyone explain this to me please?

I plugged that freq into my pro-96 and got alot of different pwc traffic (fire, police, service authority, etc.)
I think it is either an image of another freq or something weird with the pwc system.
However as long as you have the 5 control channels for pwc in your scanner you will pick up all the trunked radio traffic.
You don't have to search all the frequencies in the 860mhz range to listen to pwc. All you need are the 5 control channels. The scanner will do it for you.
Most likely that is an image the scanner is picking up. My scanner list's the freq as 796.8125 which is exactly 70mhz from the range of the pwc system (866.8125). If you google something like radio frequency image that would tell you more information about images. I am not a radio communications engineer so I don't know to much on them.
these might help you.

On past occasions when searching the 700 mhz. range I've experienced those situations with my PSR600. They are notorious for detecting images and displaying bogus NACs in mixings that originate from strong signals in other portions of the RF spectrum.
