I just completed my 796D using ARC 250 software. Although all the data was correctly uploaded to the scanner, I can get it to scan, but it is not trunking. Did I miss something that I should have manually set in the scanner that is not covered by the software? In going through the menu, I don't find any entry in the "trunking channel"(number and frequency). Must I manually add a channel? If "yes", how do I determine what to enter.

Thank you for your response. However, I spent a significant amount of time programming in frequencies, talkgroups, etc. There s no do-over here.

using the software that came with the radio you can read the banks from the scanner, so hopefully you won't have to start over just tweak with this software. should help you.

First of all, the software that came with the scanner is very primitive. You made the right choice going with ARC250.

When you are looking at the list of frequencies using arc, check to see that you have selected "ON" under the trunking column for the frequencies that are part of the trunk system.

Next, check the trunk system settings to make sure you have selected a trunking type for that particular bank.

Thank you. I had no intentions of using the software that came with the scanner. I have all the frequencies/channels programmed and all desired talkgroups as well. I prgrammed the unit for use in my van. Since I did the programming in my home, I might be too far away from any of the programmed TR systems. My only concern is that the programming instructions indicate that you should select a frequency to store data. Nothing appears in the sections for that channel number and frequency. Should I just disregard this? I don't recall the ARC 250 asking me to enter this information.

First of all, did you check that you have trunk ON for each of the trunk frequencies?

Secondly, stop your scanner on each frequency of the trunk systems (specifically the ones listed as being control channels) and see if you can hear any sort of data that would indicate reception of the trunk system. If you can't hear the control channels then you won't track the system.
