796d & Philadelphia, PA PD

I knew I was going to be in Philadelphia over the weekend, so I programmed in all frequencies and talkgroups for the city. I know the 796d is not ahead of the pack in sound quality, but the poor quality surprised me. I did get strong signals, but at times it sounded like folks were in a barrel or something. I have my scanner in my SUV. I know there are many variables regarding signal reception, but is what I received typical for those of you who reside in or near Philadelphia? I tried to adjust the sound quality but that didn't make any significant difference. What audio quality setting on the "low" end do you have?

It wasn't you. The sound quality is that bad. I've always thought fishbowl, but barrel sounds about right too.

Try setting the Mode to FM from NFM.

Sometimes it isn't so bad on certain TG's, but sometimes all you hear is crap. Some special TG's are 10x worst though.
