796D - what years were they made??

What years were the 796D made / released??

I know its somewhere from Dec 2003 - 2006 (when the 996T was released)

Im asking because I got a couple units that seem to be made in 2007-2008 (as silly as it sounds) and are in perfect condition as well.

Were refurbs re-serialized? Or the serial number process (showing the year in the serial) different on the older units then it is from the newer units.

UpMan will a 296 and or 796 with the Digital card installed work on the P-25 system I the linked the bottom of this page? I have been trying too get it to work for days. I did deferent things with the off set. I been on a bunch of threads on RR and still nothing. I believe all the firmware updates are done. When I go on the Uniden site and look at my scanners there is no updates next to the registered radios. So I'm guessing that means I already did the updates. Any help would be appreciated.
