Just a few aircraft from 8894 KHz in about 15 minutes listening time:

EL AL 102 to Algiers Radio
Air France 805 to Algiers
Lufthansa Cargo 8277 to Nouakchott Radio (Mauritania)

Just position reports. Freq had lots of QRM from HF-ACARS in USA.

Listened for a bit on 8918 also, usual aircraft checking in with New York. Also heard N488RC (G-200 from Venezuela to Teterboro), G-SANL (BD-700 GLEX), and Shark 18 there.

Hey Intellifax nice catches did you get the info from selcals? If so what software do you use? 9times out of 10 I get the ATC towers on hf but barely hear the airplanes clear enough for ids

All the info I got from the above was from the voice transmissions. Then I use several public databases to determine routing, type of aircraft, etc. I also check the selcal when it is given. Wish I had a selcal decoder, but haven't found a free one that actually works. Still looking for that.

With the sunspot cycle getting better and better, I've been checking out some freqs that I normally don't listen to, with some decent results. Can't wait until I put up a 600-700 foot longwire this spring. All I'm running now for HF is a crappy G5RV.

Intellifax: Im also looking for a selcal decoder but as you said nothing free and the only one i know of is from airnav. Sorry to hear you don't like your g5rv i have one also and so far so good.I was looking into loop antennas but they are to much money. I will let you know if i find anything online that is an open source selcal decoder.

multipsk has one you can use for 5 mins but I just restart the program for 5 more mins. Its not too detailed just throws the selcal code which atleast tells you what kind of plane it is.
