Hi, I was at radio shack the other day and I saw the 800 mhz antenna for the pro 96.

I was getting ready to buy it, but then I remembered that Washington DC (where I live) uses 2 separate ranges for its operations; UHF for the police, and 800 Mhz for fire.

Am I correct in thinking that the antenna would only help with what I hear on the 800 mhz side (fire and ems)? So would it be like not having an antenna for the police 400mhz side?

Thanks,

I use one as my 'general' antenna on a 396. It does a decent job all around--picks up signals 0 - 1 signal bar (VHF-HI, UHF, 800).
