800 Mhz ReBanding In Canada

Does anyone know If & when 800MHZ rebanding will occur in Canada
any shedules or info ? specifically im in Windsor Ontario bordering with detroit & I think they are working on it over there now So when my 396 comes in I imagine there will be a point ill have to flash it for the reband to continue hearing detroit , idunno if that would screw up listing to windsor until it catches up or what ,....sigh I miss the simple one frequeny per crystal days of scanning,....

I'm not sure on the rebanding issue for Canada, but Michigan will be in the last phase.It is scheduled for 2008.I would think the 396 would be reflashed to accept bandplan changes.Maybe somebody can confirm it?

I don't remember the web site, but when I looked up Warren,Mi, it said pending treaty with Canada, so I'm not sure how it will effect Windsor.

sigh I miss the simple one frequeny per crystal days of scanning,....

Now 1000 per scanner.

I had a reply from UPMan regarding the whole rebanding issue a while ago (for those who don't know, he is a memeber of this site and is a Uniden product manager). He says once rebanding is under way, and current radios are reflashed to properly follow those systems, 'non-rebanded' system will still trunk properly using the new firmware. So if you upgrade your radio to listen to Detroit, you don't need to worry about messing up your Windsor stuff.
