Happy Springtime, everyone! Take a moment to enjoy some long-distance listening in the 800MHz band. I'm receiving Palmetto 800 Sites 30 Richaland and 20 Lexington quite strong here in the Upstate today. That's about 70 miles or so. I also got hits on system 722d Sumter and Palm 800 Site 12 Summerville. I need to quit being lazy and get up early on morning (5am) to see what I can hear.

I understand that VHF has been enhanced quite a bit recently also. Post what you hear.

I guess I have PL on most of my public service channels, but someone was wiping out the Pickens County EMS 155.175 repeater on Saturday. I couldn't tell if they were on the input or output frequency. On another note, I talked to a guy in Palm Coast, Florida the same day. He was keying the 145.370 SC Hearts repeater on Paris Mountain full quieting using a 50 watt radio on an 40 foot tower/omnidirectional antenna. It was so clear, he sounded like he was linked on IRLP. Tropospheric-ducting was really going that afternoon?

SC Hearts repeater system had a lot of Flordia stations coming in well via the Beafort repeater last weekend. 10M opened up real well earlier yesterday also. Was getting stations from Penn state, West Virgina, Michigan, and California... checked 6M but the magic band was still dead... haven't tried much on 800mhz, i can always get Harbison, Richland, Lexington, Sandy Run, & Sumter from my location anyway but would be nice to pick up a few extras. and yes 5AM with the greyline is the best time to listen/scan...
