800mhz base antenna

Im looking recomendations for a outdoor vertical antenna for 824-896 mhz range not to expensive and not too cheap with a good gain .I eas thinking about Laord FG8243 824-896mhz 3db omni antenna , is this a good one ? Thanks !

The Laird FG8243 does look like a decent antenna.
Just keep in mind that it does not come with the Inline or Bulkhead Lightning Arrestor nor any Mounting Hardware. Be sure to factor that into your overall comparison on antennas. For this one, the street price looks like it would be for these three items about $175 with N connectors.

Please don't forget about the need for lightning protection on your antenna system. Depending on how the coax is run, where your grounding rods are located, what type of coax you are using, etc., there may be alternative methods of providing lightning protection and grounding of the antenna system.

Here is one with a bit more gain and its 65" tall, the Laird is only about 2ft tall.


Or here is roughly the equivalent of the Laird for cheap.
