I live in Scott City, KS, and I know that the EMS here has purchased the new radios with the 800 MHz frequency. However, no one seems to know what it is, not even the EMS director. I can't find it anywhere on the internet. Anybody have a clue how to find out?

My guess would be to check on the FCC's website, check for any pending changes to 800mhz. I am sure someone will chime in with a more precise theory on how to figure it out.

thanks

Thanks for the assist. I have hunted around that site and can't find a thing. The thing is, we are not "pending". We are using the radios now. I would think it would have to be already approved since it is a state mandated thing. I guess, I will just have to figure it out the old fashioned way. Stare at the scanner while transmitting.

Perhaps they are using the statewide system. Im not sure if the towers in that area have been converted to digital trunking yet or not. If not, try:

866.15000 WPRF497 R 664 DPL KBEMS Modoc Modoc (Scott County) FM EMS-Tac

Actually what you are looking for is listed on the Kansas page under Board of Emergency Medical Services here:

Board of Emergency Medical Services Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Most of the state "conventional" towers that have yet to be upgraded to digital trunking have three repeaters installed. One for KHP, One for KDOT and the third was for EMS.

I understand the "EMS" repeaters are now being called "All-Hazards" channels and are to be used for mutual aid and disaster response.
