So I got this card, and some frequencies came in scrambled before and they still come in scrambled now.

Does anyone use this card, and if so, any tips or anything you noticed anything specifically?

Thanks!

if it is single inversion
once selected you have to 'dial' in the setting until the speech is clear it will not select the settings for you I have agencies that are set at 69 some at 75 all are or may be different

I feel the need to clarify. I just got the AOR VI8200 Voice Inverter Card that fits inside the lower slot on my AOR AR8200-MK3. It did not come with any literature, and it would be great to find out what to expect while using one of these cards as Googling the topic doesn't yield any useful results.

I do not know that the scrambled channels I am receiving are inverted or not, but if I could understand how to use this card, it would be easier to figure out if these channels are indeed inverted, and how to dial in their settings.

To any users of these cards, if you have any tips, advice, or links to documentation, please post them. All help is greatly appreciated.

Is it a straight phase inverter card?

Yes, I believe it is, but I'm not entirely sure. All it says on it is "VI 8200 Voice Inverter".

maybe what you're listening to isn't voice inversion.

Wow, Mike, you're so insightful. Thanks for your amazingly useless post. I almost feel like I should have paid for such an educated contribution.

I'll look into the dialing options. Hopefully they'll be in the regular manual. What kind of agencies do you find are using the voice inversion? Local/federal/etc?

Thanks!

try this:
find a channel that is using single inversion 'donald duck' sound
while holding on the channel press & HOLD the button labeled CLEAR - option [left lower corner button
the display then will read 'VOICE INVERT'
ON OFF
may display a number 0-99
END
using the thumb wheel on the side 'dail ' a number that makes the speech clear as best as it can
when its clear enough for you PRESS the CLEAR button again to lock it in
HOWever the setting is global - every channel when scanning in the radio will then be inverted - means every freq that is clear will now be scrambled
so i let it sit on a signle channel when needed
to clear the inverter PRESS CLEAR to clear it and resume 'normal fm
I have users on PD FD GMRS & Business freq using it part time

hows that?

Wow, you're awesome. I didn't expect such good directions, and now I got 2 channels to come in. Those guys at the state hospital can't hide from me now, haha.
