Need help deciphering the callsign here. I monitored this on 8316.50khz USB from home location at approximately 1330z this morning.

Signal was quite loud and modulation was typical of military voice. I would guess either Aussie or British naval traffic. Signal was S9 most of the time.

Sounds like the base is "PMN" but I couldn't make out the stronger station.

Any ideas?

Hey Nick
It's the Royal New Zealand Navy the base operator call is "Navy Auckland"
This is a great catch. Have yet to get this so will watch for activity. Excellent recordings too!

Ah thanks B. Yeah the signals to East Asia were really great this AM. I haven't heard signals that strong in a while. I thought this was US military because the modulation was that typical wide, somewhat distorted audio.

I was also picking up 8942u MWARA from Singapore Radio and Manila at the same time. One was a YL operator and the other a OM operator.

Tokyo MWARA stations sounded like they were local stations -- as strong as SF on an average day.

She's got an awful microphone technique! S9+ here of course but not very intelligible. What frequency is the replying station on?? I can duplex here but no joy so far.
