866.0125 in Hickory

I've never heard any activity on 866.0125 in Hickory until tonight. Someone has been keying a mic every few minutes since 9PM. Any ideas?

Do you have a scanner that decodes CTCSS? If so, what are they using?

Seeing as how Hickory is EDCAS, and the new VIPER users are going to be motorola, it makes sence for Hickory to setup a repeater on 800.

I've got a 396 so it will decode CTCSS, but I didn't think to look. DOH! I'll leave it hooked to ARC396 tonight & see if I catch something.

I've not monitored the traffic on the Hickory City ITAC channel. I've been observing, though, something possibly related on the Baker Mtn. VIPER/NCSHP site.

A radio has been affiliating with Baker on TG 688, SHPTRPFMAID. No actual transmissions logged yet on this Troop F Mutual Aid talkgroup.

Could be somebody trying out mutual aid channels in the Hickory area.

Universal Trunker and Treport are interesting tools. Been playing around with this software the last couple of days.

Got another couple of hits this afternoon at 1:22 PM. No CTCSS info associated with it. Both Trunker & Treport look like they are past my expertise.

Running the software is no big deal.

You do have to be willing to modify a scanner and have some ability with a soldering iron.

ITAC channels run a 156.7 PL tone according to what I've read about them.
