895XLT Partial Keyboard inop

Wierd problem on my 895xlt. The "bank" buttons as well as the "freq/channel" and "lock" buttons are all inop. And also the small leds above those buttons. But everything else seems ok. i can program vhf fine but when i try to program a trunk bank i get stuck. it lets me enter trunk programming mode but then i cant select a bank because the buttons are inop?

Any ideas?

I peeked inside and the three cables to that front circuit board SEEM snug...

Step one is to disconnect and reseat all connectors.

no change...

removed and replaced all three cables with no change. "Bank" buttons still inop as is the "freq/chan" and "lock" buttons

Find the matrix row or column that is common to those buttons and check its continuity back to the micro with an ohm meter.
