Hey, not a problem. There's plenty to listen to with your BC898T - it's a nice scanner.

Just read the manual please - it will help out.
Just read the manual please - it will help out (yes, I am repeating myself).

A majority of communications for all of ISP District 32 Terre Haute take place on the statewide Project Hoosier SAFE-T system - some of the communications are digital in nature which the 898 cannot receive.

In general here's what you can't listen to in the ISP Terre Haute District with your scanner:
Parke County Sheriff
Vermillion County Sheriff
ISU Police
Terre Haute Police
Terre Haute Federal Penitentiary

Everybody else is either still analog or simulcasts their transmissions from on conventional VHF frequencies.

Let's start out with a bank layout. Here's what I suggest...

Bank 01: ISP District 32 - Conventional
Bank 02: Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T Terre Haute - Motorola Trunking
Bank 03: Terre Haute - EDACS Trunking
Bank 04: Union Hospital - LTR Trunking
Bank 05: Illinois State - Conventional (west)
Bank 06: Amateur Radio/Skywarn
Bank 07: Leave this blank or program as you wish.
Bank 08: Leave this blank or program as you wish.
Bank 09: Leave this blank or program as you wish.
Bank 10: Leave this blank or program as you wish.

For Programming....

Bank 01: ISP District 32 - Conventional
ISP LOW BAND 42.4200
VIGO CO HIGHWAYS 151.0250
BRAZIL POLICE 151.1600
CLAY CO EMS 151.4000

This has to be programmed as a Motorola Trunking system (see the manual)
Unfortunately, there isn't much analog traffic on this system except for statewide mutual aid, Vigo County Fire, and INDOT, but it is helpful.
Program in the talkgroups and select the ID SCAN mode.

And I wouldn't ignore any Milair possibilities - if the 898's front end in this band is as good as the 895s (with the addition of being able to program the 138-144 Mhz band in AM) it should serve nicely as a starter scanner for listening in this range (225-380 Mhz)

Unless Uniden has made some significant changes, as I understand it, the 898 manual leaves a whole lot to be desired. I had made a suggestion some time ago to use our 898 Wiki article - in the discussion section - to document and correct the manual, but that idea sunk like a lead weight <sigh>

Nice post Mike... Awhile back I posted the 8 options you can use with the VFO knob. THREE of them I found in the BCT-8 manual on page 46 & 47... Still have no idea what #4 is, but if you turn it off the 898 with not trunk.Using the C/C only and which plan to use was a BIG help.

i Program my scanner as E2-800 but wont let me put in the talkgroups
and dont hear a thing.

I know i wont receve all of it due to my scanner not beening Digital but
