Hey all.
Just wanting to program some of the local 900 meg hammy stuff to enjoy while we make another trip this week. I see the 900 listings in the ham tab, but just wanted to check with the locals before I hex edit my portable again. Coverage area will be the usual tourist/strip areas. Just thought it'd be cool the check in locally. Sometimes info may be outdated/obsolete...especially on 900.

I plan on loading up a G4 and packing a dual bander, possibly an XPR UHF.

Any local tips would be much appreciated.

The only 900 MHz gear I have ever used in the Las Vegas area was ISM band Motorola DTR series handhelds. Worked great as everyone else was using FRS/GMRS radios, and the UHF spectrum is saturated. However, I do understand the need to know more before hex editing hardware, I do that a lot with XPR6550 radios in the UHF commercial/amateur bands.

On a Vegas trip many moons ago, I was playing with an FRS radio from the...20th? floor of my hotel. Heard someone repeatedly jamming/interfering with other's conversations on multiple channels.

Long story short, he understood what I meant when I broke in and told him to go to "10, with 167.9". We had a lengthy, somewhat enjoyable chat there about radios, FRS, and boredom in hotels when you're there for work and can't go out on the town.
