Picked up a 996 from AES (aesham.com) in Orlando, FL yesterday. Just for information sake, according to the sales person, the stock had just come in and my serial number is 335Z4700xxxx.
Now, back to the question... when I use this in a mobile application, the unit will be facing upwards. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use to serve as a rubber plug for the front programming jack? I don't want any foreign objects; such as, food, liquids, etc, to fall into the jack and foul its contacts. Not that I'm reckless, and will be eating three course meals over the radio, I just would like to take away the opportunity for unnecessary frustrations.
