996 and 996 xt close call option or can I kill it?

I am forever bumping the squelch control on my BCD996 and BCD996 XT when I lean over in the car and turn on the close call. This is a feature I have not use for and would like to permanetly turn it off. I have not really looked hard in the manual or on line, but is there something in programming you can do to get rid of it so the squelch does not turn it on when it is pushed in? .
