996: is performance like the 780??

If you're experienced with both the 780 and the 996, can you tell me if they're anything
alike on raw RF performance?

I love my 780. I think it's just a beautiful piece of equipment. I've never been much
into the Uniden/GRE feud, but the more I use the 780, it leaves me thinking 'if this is typical Uniden design, then yes, I'm Uniden till the end'.

I also have a 2096, and it's very very nice. Nothing at all against it. Its main advantage
is that it's digital, but for everything else I still love my 780.

If the 996 is like the 780 AND digital AND all the really cool looking advanced features
work really well, then ... $$$ will be spent.

Opinions??

in my opion the 996t blows the 2096 and the 780 away.. but hey opions are like *******s everybody has one..

780 vs. 996

I have a 780 upgraded it to a 785D and now the 996 (see also list below) the 996 is hands down the best scanner I have owned. Uniden has even started to add features found in high end ham radios.Two thumbs up. Now that they have started to add those higher end radio features the next one I would love to see and be willing to pay even more for is dual band receive. Paul put that in your notes please.
