Was scanning today, and pressed 'temp lockout' on a TG (while 1 group was turned on), and now my 996 shows ALL groups in 1 system as turned off, and WON'T let me turn ANY back on??

Already checked the system settings, and says nothing is locked out.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the groups back??

Are you programming with software or by hand?

If so, post the file and I'm sure someone could take a look at it.

While scanning, F+Scroll to that system then, while still holding F, press the number key for one of the disabled channel groups.

If it really is just that all the channels in a channel group are temporarily locked out (and the above didn't work), just cycle power to unlock those channels.

My experience with lockout problems

On a couple of occasions, I have accidentally locked out all the groups in a system on both my 396 and my 996. I was unable to unlock any of the groups and had to go through the painstaking and lengthy task of reprogramming the entire system. Because of the fact that I don't have my programming backed up in a computer so that I can simply upload (is that the right word?) the programming back into the radio, I have now made copies of all my systems within the radio itself. Now when this happens, I can simply go to one of my copies and get my system back. I erase the messed up system first, then I make another duplicate of the copy and my problem is solved. If you don't have your systems backed up in the radio like me, you will have to wait till you can get to a computer. I'm not good with computers but I'm an expert at doing it the old-fashioned way. Field programming is a snap for me. LiberaFan08

Reprogramming is not necessary.

While scanning, F+Scroll to that system then, while still holding F, press the number key for one of the disabled channel groups.

That worked! In the past, when this happened, I'd just reprogram the radio, but my main computer self-destructed a month ago, and I lost everything on the HD, so I'm doing things by hand for now (new laptop, no serial ports).

And it was all groups in one system that were locked out. I had 3 TGs that had been locked out, but not in a group. Unlocking those (while all groups were turned off) didn't get them back to scanning.

Not a computer person

Oh well, even though I had to reprogram an entire system, at least I was able to figure out a method that worked for me and haven't had to reprogram since. I don't live in a big city so using all that memory space to make duplicates isn't an issue. LiberaFan08
