I have two (2) 996P2 scanners with Firmware 1.06.00.
They will no longer communicate with the front usb port on my Windows XP computer.
I was previously able to use the front usb port to program the 996P2's with no problem.
Nothing has changed with the computer and the usb port works
I am using the usb cable that came with the scanner.
I have tried a different usb cable but have same non connection results.
I am using Free Scan and ARC XT Pro on the windows computer.
Any suggestions?

I have the same scanner and I use win 10 sometimes if my scanner is on for a few days it will no longer be recognized all I have to do is turn the scanner off then back on and do the auto com search and it works fine.

Go to Computer Management, then Device Manager, then Ports, and check to see if the USB Serial driver is installed, and recognized. Then check the setup in your scanner software, to see if it's using the correct com port.

Looks like a driver issue! Try uninstall and reinstall w/o deleting the driver. If that don't work uninstall and delete the driver then reinstall everything.
