Paul O., I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one. Check out the button labeling on the top 996T vs the bottom one.

Looks like some play on BCT15 labeling. The scanner is definitely a BCD996T though on the inside...and mostly the outside. I picked this up in a trade with a highly reliable source that frequents RR. He's as surprised as I am and apparently never noticed it.

Must have been a Friday afternoon assembly after a 3 martini lunch. :D

Now that IS weird.... My 996 has the same labeling as the top one. The CC button is in the wrong place for a 996 on the second one too.

Scott are there any year production markings on the two scanners? Maybe the bottom one is an older production line???

Scott, the person you bought the scanner from is he a 1 time owner, did he ever send it in for any kind of service? Wondering if maybe someone might of replaced the faceplate with the one for the BCT15. Otherwise you might have a rarity.

As the person who he got the radio from, it came out of the box like that.

I suspect UPMan is right, it got a BC15 silkscreen by mistake, I wonder if he has an inside source at Uniden?

Nobody has asked if the buttons on the 'mislabeled' unit function as they are printed.

Do they? Now this would be weird...
