996xt display color

New to the uniden scanner, I have different talk groups set to different colors, Fire red, county police blue, state police green,etc. Will hold the slected color for about 4 seconds then returns to the default scanning color, acts like there is a priority channel or something kicking it to defalt, any help would be appreciated.

That's how it's supposed to work. The color change is nothing more than a momentary alert. It reverts back to the default color automatically.
