Ok, so I am a newbie. I just purchased a Uniden 996xt and FINALLY got it programmed. I used the Freescan software and RR subscription. It works fine. My question is, do I NEED a digital scanner. I was told yes. If not, I would like to purchase a couple of the BCT15x if they will work in my area. I dont know enough to decipher the different types of radio systems. I am in greensburg, IN(Decatur cnty). The city pd,county and ems are using the Safe-T system. Says Motorolla p25, apco 25. But as I understand, there are analog and didgital p25 systems. Any help is appreciated.

You are correct that this system is both analog and digital. If you scan down the page Hoosier SAFE-T you will see and "A" and "D" under mode. If you are OK with not receiving the agencies that are "D" , then the 15X will do. I think it will skip over any digital. If not you would have to delete any TG's that have a D so you will not hear noise

One thing to keep in mind, even if an agency is listed as (A) Analog, they can easily switch over digital at any time. I would advise getting the Digital scanner thinking future use.
