996xt squelch during gps connection

When I start my truck up and the 996xt powers up, if there is a channel that is active, when the gps connects, it squelches (very loudly) for about 5 seconds until the gps finishes connection. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks

I believe it's the nature of the beast. Both mine and my son's do this as well and I see no way of stopping it. For me it's typically a channel/system not in my area and I hit temp delete so I don't have to listen to it.

I have the same issue with a BCT 15, don't know of a way to fix it.
