I'm A Chicago Fireman who has had analog scanners for 50 years The Chicago Fire Dept switched to digital 2 years ago and with the price of the 996 dropping I bought one today I only want to program 4 freq and for the life of me can't figure out how to do that I read the uniden manual and the manuals buy others yet I'm still lost Can any one explain in simple terms how to do this. Our first scanner had a toggle switch that toggled between 2 crystals, north and south fire. My Father was a fireman and my Mother had the scanner on any time he was a work Denris

1. Create a System.
2. Create a Department in that system.
3. Create a Channel in that department, with the frequency.
Repeat Step 3 three more times. Note that you can add attributes at each step (Description is probably the most important one), but that is all that is purely necessary.

If you read my thread you would of seen I read all those easy manuals and had the freq I need. I just want to turn on the radio and scan 4 fire freq Denris
Voxiso Thanks We have these radios in the firehouse but they came pre programed. We had nothing but problems until we found out how to lock them on to one freq Did you ever heard the saying ; The elephant is a horse designed by a committee I think it applies to this radio Thank again Denris
