9v H Power Adapter for the PRO-94 Help!

I recently purchased this adapter for my 94. According to Radio Shack, Radioshack.com, and scanner sites the H adapta plug is the right fit with the power adapter. But it doesn't fit in my scanner I don't want to give to much force when I try to push it in. Has anyone else experienced problems of the same sort, and does anyone know how to solve it? I don't think anything is shoved into the scanner input either.
